when the rains come

When nature calls, nothing can stop us. Beit shean. Jordan valley. Migrating birds. Mud. Umbrellas. Jahnun (delicious). And lots of laughter.

Ko poklice narava, nas ne ustavi nic. Beit shean. Dolina reke Jordan. Ptice selivke. Blato. Dezniki. Jahnun (okusen). In veliko smeha. Zen.

jerusalem

I got a pleasant surprise from Dani. In the midst of all the hustle and bustle of everyday life we went to Jerusalem. The city that it's sudden vicinity still makes me surprised and excited. I mean, we live an hour and a half drive from this conglomerate of every possible thing you can imagine! So near, and still we go there so rarely and always to see the old city with it's religious places and magic of the far history that can be touched. This time it was a new place, German quarters outside the wall. Alleys, secret gardens, small cafes, still some old old churches and a renovated train station that was converted in a cool, modern place, filled with shops and restaurants and a starting point for segway  tours around the city (orange helmets!). I was in the sky. It was a great date after too long time that we took some time to ourselves and discover new places. We met also an amazing artist who's work I will present in my next post.

Dani me je presenetil. V sredini urnega vsakdana sva se odpeljala v Jeruzalem. Dejstvo, da me to starodavno mesto čaka le uro in pol stran od doma, me še vedno navdaja s presenečenjem in navdušenjem. Germanska četrt, uličice, zidovi, skrivnostni vrtovi, male kavarnice in oster, skoraj hladen zrak. Prenovljena železniška postaja, obrnjena v moderno spletišče izbranih restavracij, trgovinic, igrišč in startna točka za segway oglede mesta (oranžne čelade!). Bila sem nekaj cm od tal. V Jeruzalemu sva srečala tudi osupljivo umetnico, katere delo predstavim v naslednji objavi.

Desert

It was a weekend back to the desert in a place called Yamei Midbar. Open landscapes, dry air, hot sun and chilly evenings, bright, so bright stars and all  this quietness. Also a quirky stunt festival and a cinema under the night sky (youth movie Igor and the cranes), good simple food and a lonely sofa on the top of a hill viewing on what the first photo is showing. Kids never had more fun. I am now at home, my clothes are still filled with desert sand and a smell of firewood, my hair is tangled and my skin is dry. Inside is good and quiet, like always after desert.

Puščavski vikend. Nikoli se ne naveličam. Ekološko naseljce Yamei Midbar sredi doline Arava, na poti proti Eilatu. Globoko v puščavi in čisto blizu Jordanske meje. Odprte širjave, suh , vroč zrak ki proti večeru postane hladen, celo mrzel. Svetle, premnoge zvezde in vse ta tišina. Ah.

Avocado

Saturday afternoon. Outskirts of kibbutz Ramat HaKovesh. Avocado orchard. Huge, amazing avocado orchard. The trees were so big that I almost felt like walking in the woods near my village in Slovenia. It was good family time, you can see it on the kid's faces. After we left the orchard (with loads of avocado stuffed in Mika's stroller) we took a walk in the kibbutz, oh, what an amazing place. It made me want to pack our stuff and move there right away. Photos on the way.

PikulaBags is now available in a cute new shop in Ljubljana; Babushka boutique.

Sobotno popoldne. Zaledje kibuca Ramat HaKovesh. Avokadov nasad. Ogrooomen avokadov nasad in drevesa polna sadezev. Ko smo odhajali (s polnimi vrecami avokadov) smo pokukali v kibuc. Uh..kaksen kraj!
