Just a little shop update. This is a new messenger bag that I made as a custom order but later on decided to include it in my shop. It is fine because of the frame of course but on the other hand so casual and can be used as an every day bag (at least this is what I do with my own blue one). It has an adjustable strap and many pockets.
Israel is becoming a hot spot; weather like of course and also in another way - I have no idea why did we have two episodes of sirens and checking of the shelters. Hot, hot, hot.

Ena mala novost. Tole je nova mesendžerka, ki je bila prvotno narejena kot posebno naročilo, a sem se hitro odločila, da jo vključim v trgovino. Zelo je uglajena, seveda zaradi metalnega okvirja, oblike pa ji daje malce bolj "casual" videz in se jo lahko nosi kar vseskozi (jaz to delam s svojo modro različico). Ima nastavljiv pas in mnogo žepov.
Izrael pričenja biti vroč kotel, vremensko in tudi drugače - ne vem zakaj smo imeli včeraj dvakrat pripravljalne vaje s sirenami in preverjenji zaklonišč. Vroče.

I had to do some new photos. My Etsy shop is updated (partially of course), let me know if you have any comments. I added a few new items plus took photos of some old ones from new angles. There's still lots to do but I'm happy I started.

Morala sem narediti nekaj novih fotografij. Moja Etsy trgovina je nekoliko osvežena, vesela bom komentarjev. Dodala sem nekaj novih torbic in poslikala nekaj starih iz drugačnih kotov. Še vedno mi ostane veliko dela ampak sem vesela, da sem nekje le začela.

Tu je nova bleščična torbička.

It's raining outside. Strong winds and it is totally not like the usual Israeli weather. Some say that this land is a land of extremes. I guess on days like this one I could definitely confirm this from another, new aspect. Riding lessons are off today and I am locked in my sewing studio. Without a sewing machine. Uf. The time has come that I exchange my home Bernina (that I managed to break with trying to stuff too many upholstery fabrics through it) with a good, strong industrial one. Someone knows about a good brand? I've been falling for Juki recently and would dye for some good advice.
Anyhow, since I do not sew today, I managed to make some photos of the bag I made (before my poor Bernina made that ugrgh sound) and added it to my shop. Also the israeli one.
There is a new album posted on Pikula's facebook page that is worth visiting, it's called Pikula peacock. All the photos were taken in my beloved kibbutz Ramat Hakovesh with my good friend Karin. A crazy peacock that was following us all around is guilty for the name of teh album. Will be happy for feedback.
Still crazy about dots as you can see on my latest sketches. We'll see what comes out of it.

Zunaj je cel orkan. Čisto nepodobno običajnemu izraelskemu vremenu. Nekateri pravijo, da je ta dežela kraj samih ekstremov. Po dnevu kot je ta, se popolnoma strinjam s to mislijo, seveda iz novega zornega kota (spet).
Jahalne lekcije so odpovedane, kar pomeni da ostajam doma, zaklenjena v delavnici...brez šivalnega stroja. Uf. Moja ljuba Bernina polomljena sedi pri serviserju in jaz sem sedaj zares prepričana, da potrebujem eno fajn močno industrijsko mašino. Se kdo od vas spozna na industrijske šivalne stroje? Meni je (po večdnevnem internetnem raziskovanju) najbolj prirasla k srcu znamka Juki, vseeno pa bi dala vse za kak dober nasvet.

Kakorkoli že, če že ne morem šivati, sem se spravila na fotografiranje nove črno bele torbe, ki je že v trgovini. Nove skice pa potrjujejo mojo neskončno ljubezen do pik. Bomo videli, kakšen bo končni izdelek.

Nov pavji album na Facebook-u, vreden ogleda in vesela bom komentarjev. Slike so bile narejene v meni ljubem kibucu Ramat Hakovesh s prijateljico Karin, ki ji ni para.

Selvedge magazine and news

This morning I sunk myself into the new Selvedge magazine. After lots of coffee (from new super cute, retro cups from Ikea), a photo shoot of the new iPhone case and sending bags to the world, I am continuing with the studio renewal. Excited.

To jutro sem se koncno poglobila v novo Selvedge revijo. Potem ko sem popila veliko kave (iz novih lustnih retro skodelic iz Ikeje) poslikala nov iPhone zep, odkorakala na posto poslat kup torb v svet, sedaj cepim tu  in delam red v delovni sobi. Veliko novega in disi po svezem pohistvu.

summer days

Summer vacation is deep in. Kids are all at our place and around the sewing machine. I gave up on trying to sew something during the day and instead found out the joy of giving some of the sewing enthusiasm to the kids; Lital is working on her first self made bag and she's loving it. I sew in late evenings, lots of orders since I am (still!) running a sale in my shop, plus I just gave many bags to an adorable shop near Tel Aviv (Alma Mia).  

Last photo is the recent purchase from Berry and Rabbit. It's just perfect for the words that are sent around the world together with all the Pikulas.

Poletne počitnice so se začele tudi za otroke iz vrtcev. Kadar ne gremo divjat na plažo sedimo v mojem šivalnem kotlu in meljemo, izedelujemo in skrbimo za nered. Stokrat sem že obupala nad tem, da bom dejansko zašila kakšno torbo čez dan in raje odkrivam radosti predajanja šiviljske navdušenosti otrokom; Lital si že izdeluje svojo prvo torbico. Juhej! Pikule tako šivam pozno zvečer, hvala za vsa naročila. Še vedno razprodaja v moji trgovinici in vse tiste torbe na tretji fotografiji so že nameščene v ljubki trgovini blizu Tel Aviva (Alma Mia).

Zadnja fotografija je najnovejši nakup pri Berry in Rabbit. Kartice so odlične za besede, ki spremljajo Pikule, poslane v širni svet. 

shop update (second)

The big black is done.

Many of Pikula lovers already asked me to make a large black bag. I like it, even though it is black. The inside is a colourful peacock paradise, which still makes this black beauty a real Pikula bag. Orders? Welcome! But be aware that every ordered big black will be unique and made with special, usually very colourful lining. 

You can be very decent from the outside but in the inside you are a burning fire with many sparkles.

Mnogo torboljub me je prosilo za crno torbo, taksno veliko in prostorno. Vsec mi je, pa ceprav je crna. Da pa je crna se vedno prava Pikula, pa prica vibrirajoca barvna bomba, ki caka v notranjosti; podloga je pri tej pavji vrt z rdecim pikastim zepkom na zadrgo. Vsaka naslednja narejena crna bo imela drugacno notranjost; vabljeni z narocili in cakajte na presenecenje.

shop update (first)

After an instant visit to Slovenia for my father's birthday I prepared a few new ones, even though the best is yet to come. Just a hint: it will be a big one with a new shape of the metal frame... Excited?

Ana Kosir, a well known Slovene illustrator, is exhibiting her amazing collection in Skerk art centre. I wish I could come.

Po kratkem obisku domovine (ocetov rojstni dan) sem nazaj v vrocini in pri sivanju. Zgoraj je nekaj novosti, ceprav najboljse sele pride. Namig : velika bo in se z novo obliko metalnega okvirja. :)

Moja najljubsa slovenska ilustratorka, Ana Kosir, razstavlja svoja cudovita dela v art centru Skerk. Zelim si, da bi bila tam.

Preparations

I am sitting in my work room for hours. Making big mess and still not worrying about how will I clean it up afterwards. I have two big sales in the coming weekends and eager to prepare as much as I can. There will be lots of new items! Ure in ure sedim v delovni sobi in sivam in razmetujem in premetavam in tla so polna niti in ostankov blaga, ki jih vlecem za sabo tudi v dnevno sobo in kuhinjo. Pripravljam se za dva velika sejma in ob vsem direndaju poizkusam skonstruirati cimvec kvalitetnih novosti. Vem, Izrael je dalec in karte so drage...obljubim, da bom veliko slikala in vam prinesla drobec vtisov semkaj. ;)

Made a small view into the things that are currently in my surroundings.

1. Last week I visited my good old fabric supplier in Tel Aviv (wrote about him already). He got some AMAZING upholstery fabric pieces and I grabbed them all without thinking twice. There is about a meter and a half of each piece so whatever I will make out of it will be very unique. Any ideas? Btw, already made this large bag and came out very nice.

2.  This clutch made out of orange silk with embroidered flower used to be a hit in my store. Only one left.

3. A metal zipper. Finally I found it and collected enough courage to start making some kind of a bag with it. For the ladies that like things simple, strong and useful :) Soon, photos.

4. This is a must book for everyone that loves handmade and beautiful. There are over 70 artisans inside and some of them are breathtaking.

5. Jonatan wanted this yesterday and we started to think about summer and the sea, travelling and vacations.  Amazing how he chose this great VW caravan of all the modern cars that were on the shop's stand, well...he is the son of his parents.

6. The new "attachment" to the bags and purses that are shipped to PikulaBags customers. There's more to this...

The fold over purses became a real hit. I made 3 new ones. Specially liked how the light brown one with machine embroidery came out.

Upognjene torbice so postale pravi hit. Naredila sem se 3 in se posebej mi je vsec, kako je moj stari dobri sivalni stroj nasival vse tiste vzorcke pri svetlo rjavi torbici. Mika se je zelo tezko zadrzevala in namesto torbice na koncu osvojila pokrovcek od fotoaparata.

Upognjenke najdete v moji trgovinici, se vedno jih prodam brez postnine.

Long time ago I bought a very beautiful book. Lena Corwin is amazing! You should take a look at her blog as well.
When I prepare a finished purse for sending I usually add a thank you note, but the note was always missing something; so, I made a Pikula stamp. It was fun and I got back to childhood and primary school and times when we were making ex libris prints out of linoleum.
If you want to do something similar; I bought the rubber sheets here and you can find the carving tools in every craft shop.
Hmm, maybe it's time to make a purse with a cool print of my own?! What do you think?
