embroidery collection

... plus of course many hours of work and a pretty good and meticulous eyesight is what Tal needs to make this beautiful embroidery works. 

I met Tal one winter day, when she came to visit me in my studio. She brought her beautiful embroidery works and there was no question about starting to plan a project together. After thinking, planning and drawing, a small, limited collection of embroidered purses came out. A few of the purses are floral, inspired by Japanese embroidery, the others feature some of this seasons favorite symbols, such as flamingo and a spiky cactus and of course - a horse. 

All the purses are made out of natural fabrics, mostly linen. They are in a perfect size to fit your most cherished belongings, they fit a smartphone as well. Each purse has an option for a strap that can be detached or tucked in the inside of the bag when not needed.

Tal is an amazing embroiderer, she is making very elaborate works that many times remind of Indian embroidery and mandalas, she also sews colorful quilts and by the sparkle in her eyes you can see immediately how much she loves what she does. רק חוט ומחט..

... וגם המון שעות עבודה וראיה מדוייקת ומלא מלא כשרון..זה מה שטל צריכה בשביל להכין את עבודת הרקמה המדהימה הזו.

פגשתי את טל כשבאה לבקר אצלי בסטודיו ביום חורפי אחד. היא הביאה איתה כמה דוגמאות של עבודות הרקמה שלה..ברגע שראיתי אותן לא היה ספק ששיתוף פעולה בנינו הוא רק עניין של זמן. אז ישבנו יחד..חשבנו, תכננו, ציירנו והנה זה לפניכם -  אוסף קטן וייחודי של ארנקי קלאצ' ברקמת יד!
הדגמים הפרחוניים בהשראת רקמת יד יפנית, בדגמים אחרים שאבנו השראה מסמלי העונה בטבע החופשי..פלמנגו יפהפה..קקטוס קוצני..וכמובן סוס דוהר!

הארנקים עשויים מחומרים טבעיים ובעיקר מבד פשתן. הגודל מתאים בדיוק לכל הדברים החשובים כשיוצאים מהבית. יש מספיק מקום גם לטלפון הנייד. לכל ארנק ניתן לחבר רצועה ולשאת כתיק צד קטן.

pikula kids // girls

I made a small collection of purses for girls. My daughter loves them! They are a perfect fit for a phone, a key and a 20 shekels bill (or a few euro coins). Each of them has a fabric strap that can be tucked inside the purse when not in use. You can see more details here.

Moja Mikca me ze nekaj casa prosi, naj naredim torbice za punce. In sem jih. Mika ima najrajsi tisto s pikami. Super so za telefon ali majhno igraco, kljuc in par kovancev. Potem pa na ramo in gremo v svet. Vec detajlov tukaj.

nature awakening + studiolife

I made a few photos of stuff going around our house. Since we came back from Slovenia it took some time for the garden to come back to life. I visited the local florist and bought some new plants plus our two palm trees are flowering with the most amazing white flowers.
The animals are happy, Fitcha is exploring and following me around.
 I have a busy time in studio with the sale items and the regular orders but still I had some time to put together this cool zebra string bag and I experimented with pyramid shaped bag. What do you think?
Oh and the first photo is of my beloved box made out of old postcards...it was a gift from our friend on our wedding (see the photo behind).

Pikula and JUL

I promised to tell you about the little project Julia and I were cooking some time ago. Here is a little sneak peek into the work process of our limited purse and bag line, that will be launched next Friday (25.5.2012) in Jul's studio in Tel Aviv! I am so excited, and the fabrics that Julia chose for this project are so fresh and yes, it's a totally different input into Pikula's creations. Next week you will see them all.

Pred casom sem omenila, da imava Julija in jaz za bregom en mali skupni projekt. Nova, omejena linija torbic, Pikula in JUL, bo prvic predstavljena v petek 25.5.2012 v studiu Jul v Tel Avivu.
Julijina izbira blaga je popolna svezina in novost za Pikulino dosedanje delo, meni pa so kajpada se posebej vsec konjeniske.

The big black is done.

Many of Pikula lovers already asked me to make a large black bag. I like it, even though it is black. The inside is a colourful peacock paradise, which still makes this black beauty a real Pikula bag. Orders? Welcome! But be aware that every ordered big black will be unique and made with special, usually very colourful lining. 

You can be very decent from the outside but in the inside you are a burning fire with many sparkles.

Mnogo torboljub me je prosilo za crno torbo, taksno veliko in prostorno. Vsec mi je, pa ceprav je crna. Da pa je crna se vedno prava Pikula, pa prica vibrirajoca barvna bomba, ki caka v notranjosti; podloga je pri tej pavji vrt z rdecim pikastim zepkom na zadrgo. Vsaka naslednja narejena crna bo imela drugacno notranjost; vabljeni z narocili in cakajte na presenecenje.
Bodite urejeni in uglajeni na zunaj, medtem ko znotraj gori ogenj in se kresejo iskrice.

valley in style

It was a misty early morning when I drove up north to the sale I was so much waiting for. The event took place in a kibbutz not so far away from Nazareth. In a surprisingly beautiful hall there we were...50 designers, great atmosphere, music, new people, good snacks and hungry customers.
I got to meet the girls from Medusa (you HAVE to see their amazing designs), and could't stop looking at one of my favourite Jul's dresses; she was just visiting Milano a few weeks ago and brought lots of amazing fabrics that still need to be seen.
Pikula was selling mostly large bags, I was busy and the camera was resting for large periods of time. Which is also a good sign ;)

Zgodaj zjutraj sem se zapeljala proti severu. V kibuc blizu mesta Nazaret kjer se je danes ves dan odvijal tako tezko cakani sejem. Ob vstopu v nepricakovano lepo urejen prostor mi je zastal dih; 50 oblikovalcev (vecinoma se vedno nakita), super ozracje, fina glasba, novi lepi ljudje (ce odstejem nekatere pretirano nalispane gospodicne z neoblikovanim obcutkom za  kolicino ovesenega nakita), prigrizki in nakupa zeljni obiskovalci.
Spoznala sem lastnici znamke MeDusa (obvezno) in se nisem morala nagledati nove kolekcije Jul (in seveda ene izmed njenih mojih najljubsih oblekic). Julia je bila pred nekaj tedni spet v Milanu in prinesla novo blago!   Komaj cakam.
Pikula je prodajala vecinoma velike torbe, bila sem zaposlena in vidi se, da je fotoaparat veliko pocival pod mizo. Hihi... v tem primeru dober znak ;)

Preparations

I am sitting in my work room for hours. Making big mess and still not worrying about how will I clean it up afterwards. I have two big sales in the coming weekends and eager to prepare as much as I can. There will be lots of new items! Ure in ure sedim v delovni sobi in sivam in razmetujem in premetavam in tla so polna niti in ostankov blaga, ki jih vlecem za sabo tudi v dnevno sobo in kuhinjo. Pripravljam se za dva velika sejma in ob vsem direndaju poizkusam skonstruirati cimvec kvalitetnih novosti. Vem, Izrael je dalec in karte so drage...obljubim, da bom veliko slikala in vam prinesla drobec vtisov semkaj. ;)

Evo. Ena bolj delikatna modna revija tu v Izraelu se je odlocila napisati nekaj besed tudi o Pikuli. Jaz pa zardevam in skacem od veselja. Uf, tekst v hebrejscini; nic niste zamudili, preoblikovali so Pikulino profilno besedilo na facebook strani in dodali nekaj "vab" za Izraelske gospodicne.
